Rehab at home?

That would certainly be my issue. I could see getting the procedure done elsewhere, but the longer term rehab seems like something best done close to home.  What do others think?

The case for rehab overseas

I'm not an expert on this topic but it seems to me there's actually a pretty good case for doing rehab abroad, especially if you have the time. If medical tourism grows dramatically there will probably be an erosion in te price difference for surgery. After all, US trained, board certified surgeons aren't going to be that common overseas. On the other hand it seems there could be many more people doing rehab, just like nursing and staff to patient ratios in general are much more favorable overseas.

It should be possible to get much more personalized --even constant-- attention for rehab overseas compared to in the US and could even make a significant difference for cost savings.

Rehab after ortho procedure

I'm wondering if the rehab that is required after many ortho procedures will be a barrier to good outcomes for ortho procedures done in remote locations.  How important is it for the operating surgeon to be involved in/aware of the rehab program?  Are the rehab programs highly specified and completed in the home country or the country where the procedure is performed??
