As an executive in a cardiac medical device industry, it is well accepted that some of the best cardiac surgeons in the world come from Brazil. Surgeons in Brazil often perform high volumes of surgery and hence become very experienced and proficient in performing open-heart surgery. It is very well established that the best outcomes and results come from surgical centers who perform the highest volume of procedures. Outcomes and results from Brazilian cardiac surgery centers are exceptional.
I agree! That has absolutely been my observation in working with surgeons and other medical providers here in Brazil for more than four years now! They seem to do many more surgeries, and use this chance to adapt and improve their techniques more rapidly. I guess the fact that there's less golf courses maybe in Brazil?? Less distractions? LOL!! But truly, this is a phenomenon I have seen in many areas of medicine in Brazil.  If you go with a medical tourism company with a track record, you should NOT feel you are settling by any way, shape or means in looking at Brazil for medical care.
What is the level of English in Brazil? I had understood that physicians there were less likely to speak English than in other parts of Latin America. What about nurses and other staff?
There's huge domestic demand in Brazil for cosmetic surgery. Just walk down the street or sit on the beach and you'll see what I mean. As a result there are plenty of good cosmetic surgeons and they have plenty of business. There is less of an emphasis on recruiting foreign patients and it's harder to find an English-speaking surgeon than in places like Costa Rica. But if you are looking for cosmetic surgery abroad Brazil is a reasonable place to look.
