Mt. Elizabeth Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital (Singapore)

When I visited Mt. Elizabeth and Gleneagles hospitals in Singapore recently, which are both part of the private Parkway Health, I was impressed with their modern facilities and advanced techniques. I'd like to hear from patients who've come from abroad to use these hospitals. What were your impressions? Do you recommend these hospitals to other patients?

Mt. Elizabeth Hospital as good as anywhere I've seen in the US

I was part of a group from the Let Them Hear Foundation that went to Singapore in April of 2006 to perform cochlear implant surgeries and train Singaporean and Indonesian surgeons in cochlear implant surgery techniques. The staff from the doctors to the nurses and OR/ward staff were top notch. The rooms looked comfortable, and overall, I would say that I would have no problem having surgery there. One day, I had to estimate the cost of having an operation in Singapore (for a child who lived in India and couldn't get an atresia repair done there), so I went to the Mt. Elizabeth web site where they had the costs of some common procedures listed. The cost for a colonoscopy, for example, was 20 % of the exact same procedure my husband had just had done in the US.
